Why Entropy Matters in Wordle Analyzer
Entropy, measured in bits, represents the expected information gained from a guess. Wordle Analyzer calculates entropy by simulating all 243 possible color patterns (3⁵) for each candidate word. A guess with high entropy creates an even distribution of outcomes, meaning it eliminates the most candidates regardless of the actual answer.
For example, if you have 100 remaining words and a guess narrows it to an average of 5 words across all patterns, that's approximately 4.3 bits of information gain. Wordle Analyzer finds the word that maximizes this value.
Wordle Analyzer's Scoring Formula
Each word receives a composite score based on:
- Entropy score (40%): Information gain across all possible patterns
- Frequency score (30%): Position-weighted letter frequency in Wordle answers
- Unique letter bonus (15%): Extra points for 5 unique letters (no repeats)
- Solution bonus (15%): Prioritizes words that could also be the answer
