How to use the Pattern Finder
The Pattern Finder helps you match 5-letter words to a known shape. It works best when you already have green letters from a live puzzle and want to see which answers still fit.
Pattern Format
- Known letters: Type the letter in its correct position
- Unknown positions: Leave the box empty (treated as wildcard)
Example Patterns
- _RA_E → Finds: BRAVE, CRANE, GRACE, GRAPE, TRACE
- S___T → Finds: SHORT, SIGHT, SMART, SWEET, SHIFT
- __EAR → Finds: CLEAR, SHEAR, SMEAR, SPEAR
When to use pattern matching
Use the pattern solver when you have green letters (correct position) from your Wordle guesses. Enter those letters in their positions and leave the rest blank. The tool will show you all possible words from the Wordle dictionary that fit your pattern.
